The world we live in could be described as fast paced and social media driven. Is that fair to say? It’s what we’ve come to enjoy, accept, and expect on most days, but I’ve noticed a renewed interest in stopping to eat with family and friends. Enjoying a meal without having to rush to the next event and without phones in hands is a treasured event! Some have written about how Jesus was intentional about taking time to eat with people. Luke 7:36 says, “One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to come to his home for a meal, so Jesus accepted the invitation and sat down to eat.” It’s interesting to notice throughout the gospels that even though Jesus had a big mission to accomplish, he stopped and ate with people. There will always be more to do, but taking the time to eat with family and friends should be high on our list of accomplishments for each week. Jesus took time to eat with people. I need to stop and enjoy my meals with family and friends. Is there someone you need to catch-up with this week and share a meal? Take some time to share a meal.
