“Then the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished,” (Luke 2:16-18) Who did the shepherds tell? Everyone! I guess, God knew exactly to whom the armies of heaven should appear. Even though the shepherds weren't on anyone's guest list...but God's. Shepherds were known for being quite rough around the edges, but God decided they were going to be the ones to welcome his Son and share the story. Which means I can share God's story also. Telling God's story isn't just for those who have it all together, or for those who have all the answers. Each of us need to tell God's story and the journey we are on with God. What has God done for you that you love telling? Maybe it's a story of God's love and mercy; maybe it's a healed heart. Christmas is a great time of year to share God's story and invite friends to join you at church. Are you handing out your Christmas invites? Let's be brave because God's work in us is even more beautiful than the lights at Christmas, and it is worth passing on to others.
