We were playing at the park Sunday evening, and the moon looked so amazingly huge and grand, we stopped and stared. Later I learned that we had seen the "super moon," and we wouldn't have that opportunity again until 2034. 1946 was the last time we were that close to the moon! Creation displays God's creativity, love, and power. (I'm trying to stop and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us because God has given us so much to enjoy.) On Sunday at ValleyPoint we learned that the purpose of Hebrews is to exhort persecuted believers to stick with Jesus. The book begins with why it's advantageous to stick with Jesus. "He sustains the universe by the mighty power of his command. After he died to cleanse us from the stain of sin, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God of heaven." (Hebrews 1:3) Jesus controls the super moon and our president. Jesus knows when the leaves fall and when we stumble. Nothing surprises him. Nothing is beyond his control. Jesus sits at the right hand of God. Why stick with Jesus? Jesus has the power, and we can sleep soundly resting in him.
