Open eyes...

I just had the opportunity to spend a week with Eric's family and a week with my family. I met two cute, chubby nephews and an adorable, cuddly niece for the first time (I loved holding the babies!), and I saw a dramatic change in many of my nephews and nieces. The three 13 year old cousins were great fun to watch. I enjoyed observing them play tag, football, basketball, swim, and laugh. I had been anticipating getting to know all of the cousins better, and I was able to get a peek into their personalities and hearts. When you want to get to know someone, you keep your eyes and ears open. As I watched and listened, I learned about their loves, and I heard funny facts and stories. I need to put the same attention into getting to know God, my Father. "Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your law." (Psalm 119:18) This is a great verse for me to pray. If my eyes are wide open as I read God's Word, I will know God more. I will see His plan, His work, His timing, His attributes, and His love. Summer can be a time to open our eyes to God so we can truly know Him. As you read the Bible, pray for open eyes.
