What causes you to smile? Flowers, baby feet, ice cream, puppies, sunsets... Tonight, playing at the park with several of my kids made me happy. The running, biking, and cartwheeling completed our evening. Ice cream is also a great way to end the day! Does God's Word bring us joy? Does it bring us the same feeling as a  good family event or dessert?  Psalm 119 uses the the emotions of rejoicing and delighting to describe Scripture. God's Word is also compared to honey. They didn't have ice cream yet. (We are all out of ice cream, and it sounds so good.) Do I desire God's Word the same way I am craving ice cream tonight? I think the psalmist did. He says, "I have rejoiced in your decrees as much as in riches." "I will delight in your principles and not forget your word." The writer focused on God's Word by learning it, reciting it, studying it, and reflecting on it.  It's quite a bit of work, but the benefit is purity. Do you have a verse or verses you are concentrating on now (maybe your life verse)? God has given us his Word to help us. Let's work diligently to put God's Word in our hearts.
