I think because of some different circumstances in my life, and because of what I have been observing in people around me and society, I have been on a quest to discover the importance of being thankful. Being thankful and praising God is what God expects of us, and we reap the benefits of obeying. But why make a concentrated effort to put praise and thankfulness as a top priority each day? Being thankful keeps us from sinning because it keeps our minds from becoming dark and confused. This concept comes from Romans 1, but God tells us over and over to praise Him and be thankful. Surely God deserves all praise, but I believe being thankful to God blesses us more than we know. God has given us steps to a clear mind and joy. Psalm 119:7 puts another twist on how we thank God. "When I learn your righteous laws, I will thank you by living as I should." When I do what is right, I thank God. My words thank God, but so do my actions. Take time to thank God every day...every time you are discouraged...every time you are frustrated...every time you are happy. Commit to writing down one thing you are thankful for every day for a month and at the end observe if anything changed inside of you.
