Self discipline takes work and self-control. Cleaning-up after ourselves in a timely manner. Eating healthy and not too much chocolate. Consistently following through on tasks, goals, and promises takes work. The list of self discipline could be endless. When it comes to our spiritual disciplines, it still takes work. For me the spiritual discipline of prayer is rough, and it is one that I'm working on again this year. When I thought about life verse for 2016, a verse about prayer was what I needed. Psalm 116:1, 2 says, "I love the Lord because he hears and answers my prayers. Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath!" After reading this verse, I wonder why do I struggle with prayer? I can talk to The God, and he hears me. Not only does God listen to me, he bends to listen to me which shows he cares tremendously. I am still taller than a couple of my children, and I bend to listen to their stories and concerns. God does the same for me, but he is never busy or distracted like me. I'm concentrating this year on the discipline of prayer. It hasn't been easy, but I love that my Savior listens to me. How's your prayer life?
