My daughter Cambree loves to draw houses, and I enjoy hanging them on my frig. They are bright colored homes with long triangular roofs. Many have flowers close to the doors, and cute square windows. Let's stick with the hand-drawn houses, and I want you to picture a house with the foundation of wisdom. Maybe it's a large stone slab covered in the words of proverbs. On this foundation is built a house that is designed and sized from the profits of obedience. The more the obedience the bigger and more striking the design. The house is filled based on obedience. How does your house look? Is your foundation thick and strong, or is there a crack? Is it a broken foundation or a strong one? Is the house small and in need of a make-over, or is it a home that shows the beautiful blessing of God that comes through obedience. (You can paint it neon yellow like my daughter if you want.) Obedience isn't just for kids. Obedience is for all of us...everyday. Ephesians 4:31,32 says, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well, as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another..." (Sign!) Obedience is hard work, but let's not give up. Work at building a home you love that has a foundation of reverence and the rewards of obeying. "Reverence for the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. The rewards of wisdom come to all who obey him." (Psalm 111:10)
