Celebrating...

This past weekend I had the privilege of watching my oldest daughter, Clarice, walk across the stage at the University of Delaware and graduate from high school. It was a day of many emotions. Clarice had several family members from Illinois, Ohio, and Canada at her graduation, and everyone enjoyed the day. Excitement and happiness rubbed off on us all that day, and we had fun celebrating! Unfortunately, sadness and fear also affect those around us. In Joshua chapter 7 there is day described that was far from a family celebration. A man named Achan made a wrong choice, and it affected his family, friends, and all the nation of Israel.. So many decisions are made in relationships, at work, and in homes that we believe only affects us, but as these decisions pile up, do they align us with God or pull us away? I believe Achan never intended to hurt his family and all those in his world, but he destroyed his family and caused the Jews to be defeated by the city of Ai. Are you working toward a celebration or a defeat? Just as thousands of hours of homework, school, and tests equals graduation, thousands of small everyday decisions bring about defeat or success. Choose well...
