Football, field hockey, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and cross-country are in full swing. Each of these groups have spectators to cheer them on to victory. Football has a few more fans than cross-country, but they both have fans. Some spectators clap, some scream, and some ring cow bells. Even if you don't enjoy sports, you would cheer on someone you know. Cheering someone to victory is a way to honor them. Honoring may not be our first intention, but it is a way to show respect.
I've been reminded once again this week that God owns everything. All I have is His; all I am given is His. God deserves my respect, and I should take time to honor Him. Psalm 20:4, 5 says, "May he grant your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory, flying banners to honor our God." What are the banners you have flying for God? First, write down what God has done for you. Seondly, communicate to someone how God is working in your life. Lastly, creatively honor God...make a banner, write a poem, or take a picture.
