This past week I had the opportunity to stop and enjoy the ocean. When I was sitting on the beach making sand castles with my kids, I started to pick-up white stones. The stones were so striking and pretty that I started collecting them. It's great to have time to enjoy creation. God has given us such a beautiful world. I began thinking as I picked up the white stones...what does God collect? What does He find intriguing? Then I realized, I am just observing God's collections. All of creation is what He has on display for us to stand in awe of...point at with our mouths open. So whether we pick-up flowers, shells, or stones, God is allowing us to hold on to His collections.
David says it best, "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers-the moon and the stars you have set in place-what are mortals that you should think of us, mere humans that you should care for us?" (Psalm 8:3,4) God loves us. God loves me. He has given us museums called parks, mountains, galaxies, and oceans for us to remember how truly big, unfailing, unlimited, and beautiful His love for us is. Taking time to stop smell the roses is a great application for Psalm 8.
