Happy New Year. We are seven days into the year 2014, and I still need to write out my list of resolutions. I am working on a list of things I'd like to accomplish: paint, organize the garage, give away half the toys in my house, clean-out the boys room, find a good place for our one million shoes, and paint some more. The New Year lists and goals are great, but they are so much work. The saying, "if you want something done, you have to do it yourself" makes me tired, but I do like the satisfaction that comes from crossing items off my lists.
In Romans 9:16 it says, "So receiving God's promise is not up to us. We can't get it by choosing it or working hard for it..." I love that God's promise is not up to me. It's all God. I can't work for it. I can't earn it. I enjoy things that don't depend on me. The promise on salvation is a wonderful free gift. I hope, this year to share the promise that doesn't depend on me with others.
