"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us-they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." (Romans 5:3-5) These verses are great, but when life hurts, it's hard to rejoice.
In the morning, my friend, Kim Easter, and her son Anthony fly to Minnesota to see if the doctors there can help Anthony. He is 8 years old, and he has just been diagnosed with ALD. They are looking for answers...help...hope. Anthony needs our prayers. The whole family needs prayer. As I talked to Kim on Sunday, she started listing things she was thankful for...areas where she could see God working. I think, being thankful when we are hurting, actually helps us handle our hurt. God has given us steps to walk through our pain. And He has promised us His love. God loves us.
