Doesn't it seem like everything is supposed to be fast? Life feels like a race some days. How fast can I finish this list? How quickly can we microwave dinner? Can we get to two kid's practices in different places and back home in 20 minutes?
James 1:19 says, "My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry," I don't normally think of being "quick to listen". It's sounds like power naps. The words just don't fit together, but they truly do. If I am "quick to listen", I will hear what is really being said. If I am "quick to listen", I might not say something I shouldn't. If I am "quick to listen", I might be slow to speak and slow to become angry. This is a great verse to think about and memorize. It's on our frig. I believe, the words help us slow the pace of our mouths which helps life.
This week I hope we can all slow down everything except our ears. I want to be a good listener.
