This time of year there are many secrets so that we can surprise those we love. It's hard to keep secrets though. I have a few in my house that can't keep a secret. You always know what they gave you before you open the gift. These are the ones I don't want to take Christmas shopping with me!

Philippians 4:10-13 gives us the secret of being content. What a great secret this time of year. The Christmas season doesn't always bring out the best in us. As adults we might not have a huge Christmas list for Santa, but we still may struggle with being content at Christmas. The author, Paul, says he has had times of being in need. He knows what it is to be hungry. On the other hand, there have been days in his life when he had more than enough. The secret of being content is knowing Philippians 4:13, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

Basically, we have to choose God. Trust Him. He promises to give us strength. He has so many gifts for us that we leave unopened. We need to open the gift of strength this Christmas so we can be content with life.
