Put your shoes away. Keep your hands to yourself. Think of others first. Sit down and work on your homework. Say kind words. Close the door. Inside voices. Sometimes I feel like I say the same things everyday, and I actually do say the same things. That's really just normal life even though sometimes it gets old.
Philippians 3:1 says, "Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you." It's not just my children who need to hear the same things over and over again. We all need to be reminded of the basic rules of life. We all need to hear God's Word over and over. It's easy to stop listening when we hear the familiar words we know, but God says that it safeguards us. So what are we hearing again? Don't loose sight of what God wants for us. First, don't depend on your own accomplishments. Next, get to know Christ deeply. Lastly, remember we really are citizens of heaven.
We know these facts, but we need the reminder just like all children so we stay on track.
