Hurricane Sandy slowed our busy home down the last two days. We enjoyed the time we had to spend indoors...not running around so much. I know, it was a storm that made life very hard for many, but here it just made us stop which was wonderful. We had several games all over the house which we haven't played since school started. We had time today to make a huge mess getting our pumpkins ready for Halloween. Stopping helps life. Sometimes we get so busy, we don't have time for others.
Philippians 2:19-24 talks about how Paul is planning to send Timothy to Philippi. Paul desires to know how they are doing. He also wants him to go to Philippi because Timothy cares for them. "I have no one else like him, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare. For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ." I have a planner that sits on my kitchen counter to keep me on track each day which is good, but I don't ever want to get so focused on my check list that I can't see the needs and opportunities to show God's love. Life is a hard balancing act, but when we read these verses it sounds like most choose to stick to their own lists. I needed the reminder to keep my eyes outward.
