This week I was able to sit and listen to a lady who shared her story with me. When she was done, she said, "and I am very happy." She looked happy, but her life story wasn't one that everyone would be happy to have. Basically, life didn't turn out just how she had prayed. God hadn't answered her prayers the way she wanted, but she was good with life. She said that along the way she learned to be happy with God's way. As I went throughout my day, I kept thinking about her journey. Am I happy when life doesn't go my way? Am I content even if I don't get what I ask for from God?
Psalm 10:1 says, "Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?" Can you relate to David? Have you ever thought...where is God? He sometimes seems so quiet. Where are the answers? I don't understand why and how God works at times. But Psalm 10 ends by saying, "You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more."
The more we know God; the more we know His heart. We may not always understand God's ways, but we can trust Him. The lady who shared her journey with me truly knows God. She trusts Him. When we struggle with God, we need to get to know Him more. Get to know His heart.
