It's spring break, and I have all my children home. I love when they are all home without school schedules and homework. I love that they get to sleep in and play in their pj's. Sometimes schedules and the demands of life get old. We've played "Guess Who", kick-ball, and hide-in-seek (in the dark). We've gone shopping, and they've had sometime to just look at "stuff" and talk. We've had ice cream cones from a few places. Nothing real exciting, but a few lazy days are great! With all the extra time comes some fights though...not everyone sees life the same in my house.
These verses in Colossians 3:12-14 are life-changing. "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
If everyday when I put on my jeans and blouse, I would dress with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, life would be better. Each day I need to dress God's way. As I read these verses, I think, about how differently family life would be if we dressed the way God wanted. Next, forgive. Forgive God's way...totally and completely. Lastly, we would wrap it up in love. Families would look different. Communities would look different. Churches...
So do you need to be more gentle or patient? Is it hard for you to forgive? We each live touching so many others that we need to dress the way God wants us too. Relationships just work better when we are dressed with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Choose one, and write it where you can see it. Life-changing words.
