My parents, sister, brother-in-law, and their three children came into town to celebrate Easter with us. It's been great to be with them for the last five days. The fifteen of us have had fun, and I know when they leave in the morning my children will say at some point...it's so quiet now. Anytime we have guests leave, my kids complain that it's too quiet. (I think, this is hilarious!)
Quiet can be a little boring, but a little "peace and quiet" can be refreshing. Most of us enjoy peaceful environments or peaceful moments. Colossians 3:15-17 says, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace..." As you read this verse right now, how is your heart? Is your heart peaceful or is it full of fractures, stress, disagreements, and fear? Peace is to be settling the conflicts in our heart. When our hearts are overwhelmed and anxious, we need to let peace control it. Philippians 4:9 says, "Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." So to have peace in our hearts, we have to be walking God's path, God's way. Obeying Him, brings peace. Peace is worth the work.
