As I write, I have four lunches I need to pack, a few dishes left to wash, a note to write, and a few more e-mails to send. "There are never enough hours in a day." "A woman's work is never done." These are both phrases we hear; both are phrases we feel. The list is rarely finished, and we always have a few more things to do. Life is busy, and we all desire to feel like we are accomplishing something.
Proverbs 31 is our final proverb, and it is a great way to end. Proverbs began talking about the fear of the Lord, and it ends telling the story of a woman who lives it. The Proverbs 31 woman is one who works hard and is strong. She is great in business, and she is generous to the poor. She provides for her family. She speaks with wisdom. She is respected by her family, and her husband is respected in the city.
This woman accomplishes so much. Many believe that this is probably a picture of ideal women and not just one person which should help us not get depressed as we read the list. The proverb is to encourage us to be all we can be. Living God's way...being wise and working hard can bring enjoyment and fulfillment in life.
As we write our lists, we can be encouraged. We should do what God has given us to do. Working hard with God's wisdom, our abilities, and compassion...expecting God's blessing. Enjoy!
