Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." This verse speaks of the great benefit of being friends with good people. Friends can help us see life through new eyes. Our plans, dreams, and daily life can be discussed and challenged by those who care deeply for us. If an idea can be questioned, but the person is still respected, progress is made. When we aren't guarded, but rather we are open to change, we become better.
I'm so thankful for all the friends and family on my Christmas card list that have made me think through my decisions and actions. They have made me a better person. It's good to be sharpened...we all have rough spots. So this Christmas season, thank someone for challenging you. Thank the person who questions you out of love and concern. Send a Christmas card...give a gift. Friends and family make us better.
