The truth is sometimes a mystery. The actual price...the quality...the real story...the simple truth. The truth is not always easy. Sometimes we stretch the truth; sometimes we shrink the truth.
Proverbs 11 begins by addressing the topic of honesty. Proverbs 11:1 says, "The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight." Abhors is a word we don't use too much, but it means hate. God hates dishonesty. God is truth. There is dishonesty everywhere, but we aren't to get caught in lying. When my niece was two, my sister asked her if she was lying about something. She looked at my sister and roared like a lion. Unlike my niece, we know what lying is, but we might avoid what the truth is. Sometimes lying is saying what is false, but sometimes it's avoiding the truth.
So are you filled with truth? Are you truthful with others? Do you just let "stuff" go? Are you always "good or fine"? Are you truthful to yourself about how you are doing in your relationship with God...or you just surviving? This week watch what you say and see if you are being a totally honest person. One way for us to be more like God is be honest. For us to know Him more we must be filled with truth. Sound simple? It's one more step closer to God.
